As co-founder and CEO of Elevyst, I help health systems, first responders, courts, and county governments build responses to substance use and mental health crises that hold up in the real world.
Why lived experience is the differentiator, not the disclaimer
Most training on addiction and stigma comes from people who have only stood on one side of the exam table. I've stood on both: as the physician caring for the patient, and as the patient needing care. My addiction also cost me my medical license and brought me into the criminal justice system, so I know that system from the inside too.
That's why frontline staff, sheriffs, and EMS crews stop giving the "right answers" in a training session and start telling me what actually happens on a call. That kind of credibility can't be taught.
Speaking
Keynotes and sessions for conferences, academies, health systems, and county leadership. Your people have sat through the slide deck about the opioid crisis. I give them something they can use on the next call, from someone who has been on both sides of the system.
Training your team
A half-day or full-day session I deliver personally, built around what your people actually encounter. Withdrawal in custody. The repeat overdose call. The patient everyone has decided is a problem. Evidence-based, and evaluated so you can show what changed.
Advisory for leaders
You have settlement dollars, a deadline, and a room full of opinions about how to spend them. I work with sheriffs, DAs, commissioners, and health system executives on where the money actually moves the numbers, and how to show the public it did.
One-to-one, confidential
For physicians, nurses, EMS, and executives facing substance use challenges, a monitoring program, a license under review, or the exhaustion that comes with it all. Private and direct. This is peer support, not treatment, and it sits outside the monitoring and licensing systems.
